General information:

Playa del Carmen offers excellent diving conditions all year round. The region is part of the Mesoamerican Reef, the second largest barrier reef in the world. This impressive reef system is home to an incredible variety of marine life and offers divers a unique opportunity to experience the underwater world of the Caribbean in all its splendor.

Degree of difficulty:

Playa del Carmen offers diving opportunities for every level of experience:

AdvancedDeeper reefs (20-30 m) with stronger currents and steeper walls, perfect for experienced divers looking for larger marine life and more challenging conditions.

BeginnersShallow fringing reefs (10-12 m) with calm waters and little current, ideal for relaxed exploration.

What is there to see?

When diving in Playa del Carmen, you can discover a diverse underwater world. In addition to turtles, colorful puffer fish and lobsters, elegant eagle rays and rare seahorses are also frequently seen. In the deeper waters, you will come across impressive giant moray eels, crabs and large barracudas. Small sharks such as nurse sharks can also be seen from time to time. In the winter months, you have the chance to encounter majestic bull sharks. The colorful coral reefs are also home to numerous other fish species and make every dive a special experience.

This is how the day goes!

We meet in the morning at our dive center, not far from the center of Playa del Carmen. We prepare the necessary equipment and discuss the upcoming dives over a cup of coffee or a glass of water before making our way to "Coco Beach", the beach where our boat and crew are already waiting for us. After a short drive, we reach various reefs. We take our time to get ready and after the obligatory buddy check, we roll backwards into the sea. In small groups, depending on how experienced you are, we will show you one of the shallow or one of the deeper reefs and its special features and inhabitants.
Before the second dive, there are a few fruits and drinks for refreshment. The second dive normally takes place on a different, shallow reef (for decoration reasons).
After hopefully unforgettable moments under water, we make our way back to land and from there back to our dive center, where we can relax in the pool with a drink and reflect on what we have experienced!
