Diving into the unknown - the cenotes of the Riviera Maya
Diving in the cenotes of the Riviera Maya is a unique experience that takes you into a fascinating underworld. These freshwater caves and grottos, formed by thousands of years of erosion, offer divers a breathtaking backdrop of crystal-clear water and impressive rock formations. The play of light that penetrates through the openings of the cenotes creates magical effects and illuminates the spectacular stalactites and stalagmites that adorn the caves.

The origin of the cenotes in a few words:
The cenotes in Mexico are fascinating natural formations that were created millions of years ago. During the last ice age, the sea level dropped and the groundwater began to penetrate the porous limestone of the Yucatán Peninsula. Over thousands of years, the water dissolved the stone and formed underground cave systems. As the climate became warmer and the sea level rose, these caves filled with water. Eventually, parts of the cave ceilings collapsed, revealing the impressive cenotes - deep, crystal-clear water holes that are now home to a unique ecosystem and were revered as sacred Mayan sites.

"Suitable for beginners and advanced divers"
Cenotes are ideal for divers of all experience levels as they usually offer calm conditions and exceptionally good visibility. Some are easily accessible and offer easy dives in calm, shallow waters, others, especially the deeper and narrower systems, are more challenging and require advanced skills.
When diving in the cenotes, we follow special lines that serve as a guide and ensure that everyone finds their way back. Safety is our top priority: all dives are accompanied by experienced guides who know the cenotes well. Strict safety rules, briefings and the right equipment ensure that every dive is safe and unforgettable.

This is how the day runs:
Our day starts relaxed at our dive center in Playa del Carmen, where we welcome you warmly and prepare the equipment together. We then take the pick-up truck deep into the jungle to the impressive cenote. Before the first dive, you will receive a detailed safety briefing so that you can enter the water safely and well prepared. Between dives, you can relax with snacks and drinks and enjoy the tranquillity of nature. At the end of the day, we will either take you back to the dive center to end the day with a deco beer or a coke, or directly to your hotel - an unforgettable day full of adventure and relaxation!
The most beautiful cenotes at a glance
As some cenotes are further away than others and the entrance fees vary, we have divided the best-known and most popular cenotes into three price categories. This makes it easy for you to find the right cenote for your budget and interests.
